pkm trainer asked:

and do you find it hard to give some away even if you have 100 of the one plant ? My garden is over-crowded, although its small. The plants could grow better if they were spaced out well and if the trees were not scattered along the herbaceous borders. Its not like I can chop the trees down but what can I do with this.

Our small Charter school needs some help with beautification, we have space for garden, water too but we close for summer. How we can have a community garden that is going to be without help in summer? How to make our school more beautiful without using the parents money but still their participation?

I love to garden but I am having a hard time finding a seed or seedling company that ships outside the continental US. I live in a town with only one small plant nursery, but the selection is extremely limited. I live in Zone 4, so the area is still warm enough to grow most plants.

I’m starting a garden of plants with bright colors and cool shapes and I kind of got inspiration from reading about the garden at the Burrow as described in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. What’s a really cool tree (and kind of spooky) with a gnarled up and twisted trunk that would add a unique twist to a garden?

Raccoons and skunks constantly tear up my garden. Are there any non-chemical solutions that work well?

My garden consists of nice shrubs and moss in-between large stones. The critters seems to like to dig up the moss in search of grubs. I’ve tried chemicals to kill the grubs, but they dig us up nonetheless. I have a trap and catch them and have animial control relocated them, but we live somewhat close to the mountains outside of Los Angeles and there is a steady stream of racoons, skunks and possum.

Has anyone had good luck with fox urine? I’ve tried it and can’t say that it worked well. We’ve also tried cayenne pepper applications, which work for a few days until the sprkinlers soak the garden and the pepper is washed away. Plus, the pepper turns the green moss red.

Thoughts?
